Snow Mold
Snow Mold may be common this spring. Symptoms will be evident after the snow melts. It causes patches that are light brown, gray, or straw-colored and measure less than 10 inches in diameter.

Corrective measures include raking affected areas to increase air movement. Warm and dry temperatures will also help cure these conditions.  Generally a fungicide treatment is unnecessary. However if damage is extensive please give us a call.

Raking your Lawn in the spring is a beneficial activity for your lawn as well as for you. Raking removes any unnecessary debris from the lawn and lifts the turf to allow more air circulation and light penetration. These are two critical ingredients to promoting growth of the turf. Raking, along with our spring application gives the lawn a big boost and puts it on its way to looking its best. Watering your lawn in the spring may seem redundant, but on the contrary, it can be just as important as watering in the summer time when there is a definite shortage of rainfall. A lawn needs a good inch of rainfall each week to be able to maximize growth and development. Mother nature isn't always consistent with rain, so as a homeowner it is important that you supplement this possible moisture shortage. We emphasize this in the spring because the turf will have better tolerance for disease and insects in the summer months. Thick healthy lawns create their own barrier against weeds so excessive weed control will not need to be used. This makes environmental sense.
